Eastern Slope collects to go toward the Federal Universal Service Fund, which helps keep phone rates affordable for all Americans. It is applied to each access line that receives exchange service.

RELAY SERVICES: Surcharge that helps fund communication solutions for hearing-and speech-impaired individuals.
E911 CHARGES: Charges to help
local governments pay for emergency
services such as fire and rescue.
CHARGE: A charge that covers the fixed
monthly telephone service rate.
LATE PENALTY:Payments made after
the 21st of each month will receive a late penalty.
LONG DISTANCE:A charge for
Eastern Slope Long Distance telephone
PRORATION:A charge accounting for the period of service between service installation and the start of the first full month of service. This charge, along with connection or maintenance
fees, means a customer's first bill is often greater than the typical monthly bill. Services changed (added or removed) during the billing cycle will also incur prorations on the next month's bill.
